Bucks looking for PSN-paved route to the Cloud?

Buckinghamshire County Council has invited tenders for managed ICT services it wants to be run on a Public Services Network (PSN) and which may start a journey ending in the Cloud.

The four-year framework deal - potentially worth anywhere between £20m and £100m - has been set up in such a way that it will automatically include not just Bucks as lead but neighbours in abutting counties and nearby Greater London; Bucks has track record of collaborating with Aylesbury, South Bucks and Milton Keynes Fire Authority.

The contract, as specced in the Official Journal of the European Union (OEJ), will include the implementation and maintenance of wide and local area networks, CCTV, traffic management systems, public information systems, unified communications systems, plus management and associated services.

Any delivered service has to be PSN standard friendly, it says.

The notice says the authority wants to use the platform as a way to move eventually to hosted Cloud services.
