Capita and IDOX partner on document management for local authorities

Solution providers Capita Software Service and IDOX are partnering to provide local authorities with document management tools that will support their shared services and outsourcing initiatives.

As highlighted by thinktank Localis last year, 75% of local authority finance directors were exploring options to merge services with other authorities or outsource service delivery to external organisations.

According to Capita, a key part of maximising the operational efficiency of shared services is the ability to store live documents centrally and share them electronically between front and back office teams. 

By working with IDOX and its solutions for information management and workflow management, Capita can help local authorities deploy electronic document-management systems in individual departments or across the organisation.

Document-management tools aim to increase users' speed of access to files by storing them electronically in a secure central repository. They also reduce time spent filing and retrieving documents, and increase office floor space by removing the reliance on paper-based files.
