Intellect Report on Data Security
Intellect's Director General, John Higgins, claims the current economic crisis calls for greater awareness of data security issues.
Commenting on the launch of the revised version of Intellect's 'Data Security and Data Protection Guidelines for Offshoring and Outsourcing', Mr Higgins stated:
'Outsourcing and offshoring are natural reactions to the current financial pressures. However, the harder line being taken by some regulators, along with advances in cloud computing, means these practices are laced with data security and data protection obstacles.'
'Failure to take these challenges seriously could lead to financial penalties for offending companies, or perhaps more seriously, will compromise the trust that staff and clients place in them.'
Intended mainly for customers, this paper allows them to successfully navigate the web of regulations and expectations that arise in an outsourcing context.
Intellect's Information Management and Security Group published a report on Data Security and Data Protection Guidelines for Offshoring and Outsourcing on 18 November.
The paper is available for download here.
