TLT appointed to the Co-operative Group's commercial legal panel

TLT has been appointed to The Co-operative Group's commercial legal panel following a full review of the retailer's legal advisors. TLT is one of only three firms that will advise the world's largest consumer co-operative, which includes the group's financial services and retail operations. The other firms are top 15 UK firm Addleshaw Goddard and, new to the panel, Pinsent Masons.

The Co-operative Group's full review of its commercial legal panel was designed to reduce the number of law firms it uses and to reduce its legal spend. The review was conducted by The Co-operative Group due to the increase in the number of law firms following The Co-operative
Financial Services (CFS) merger with Britannia and The Co-operative Group's acquisition of Somerfield.

TLT has been a preferred supplier of corporate and commercial legal services to Somerfield for over 10 years, most recently advising Somerfield on all of the retailer's property matters during the
Co-operative's acquisition. Perran Jervis, TLT's head of Retail, adds, "Our work for major retailers, including Somerfield, has given us a genuine understanding of the retail supply chain from a retailer's points of view and, when combined with our strong Financial Service expertise advising major national and international banks, it's clear that TLT is in a very good position to provide the world's largest consumer co-operative with the right expertise. We're delighted to be working with The Co-operative Group."

TLT's 17-strong retail sector team advises major blue chip retailers on every aspect of retailing including as trading standards, Point of Sale materials, own label packaging, agency agreements and outsourcing.
